Let's start with some information on the poet and writer from the last episode of Romanticism.

Rainer Maria Rilke, born René Karl Wilhelm Johann Josef Maria Rilke, was an Austrian poet and writer. He was born on December 4, 1875 in Prague, now in the Czech Republic, and died on December 29, 1926 in Montreux, Switzerland. Rilke was one of the most important poets of the 20th century and is often considered one of the greatest poets of German literature.

Rilke began his career as a poet in the early 1890s and published his first poems in 1895. In 1902, his first poetry collection, "Leben und Lieder" (Life and Songs), was published. In the years that followed, he published several more poetry collections, including "Neue Gedichte" (New Poems, 1907-1908) and "Duineser Elegien" (Elegies of Duino, 1923).

Rilke's poetry is known for its deep spirituality and introspection, as well as its refinement of language and form. He is often considered one of the greatest poets of modern poetry and his work has had a great influence on the literary world.

In addition to poetry, Rilke also wrote prose, including a novella, "Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge" (The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge, 1910), and a number of letters, including "Briefe an einen jungen Dichter" (Letters to a Young Poet, 1929).
Rilke was also known for his travels and his contacts with famous artists and poets of his time. He was friends with, among others, Auguste Rodin, Paula Modersohn-Becker, and Lou Andreas-Salomé. The poem

The wealthy and fortunate stay easily discreet,
No one wants to know what they are.
But the needy must reveal themselves,
Must say: I am blind

Or: I am on the way to becoming it
Or: it's not going well on earth
Or: I have a sick child
Or: I am really one of them...

And maybe that's not enough.
And because everyone else, like with things,
passes them by, they must sing.
And then you hear some good singing.
Of course, people are strange; they prefer
to listen to castrati in boys' choirs.
But God himself comes and stays long
when these circumcised disturb him.

I advise you not to listen to the music via a mobile phone, tablet or laptop. That could turn out to be a disappointment, unless you use very good headphones. For a reasonably acceptable experience, a computer with a good sound system is required!

Please note:
This music is an electronic representation and is therefore not comparable to a human version! For example, one does not hear the words of the sung text by the choir, but only "aah" and "ooh". The instruments, on the other hand, are quite realistic thanks to the latest electronics. It remains, however, that the whole of the interpretation of the conductors/musicians is missing and therefore may sound somewhat sterile
